Mission

The College of Science, Engineering and Technology promotes the understanding and applications of natural laws through undergraduate and graduate teaching and learning in the formal classroom, through student/faculty research, and other scholarly activities that serve the local, state, national and global communities.

Goals

The College of Science, Engineering and Technology will provide quality undergraduate and graduate programs that foster student learning through a wide variety of instructional applications. This will be accomplished by:

  1. Provide students an in-depth knowledge of their discipline, accompanied with critical thinking skills, laboratory skills and problem solving skills,
  2. Assure that all graduates of the college have strong oral and written communication skills.
  3. Provide each major a thorough understanding of the ethical nature of their discipline and its application to societal needs.
  4. Commit to life-long learning through a variety of technologies and research tools so each learner can adapt their knowledge base to new situations.
  5. Promote a College-wide assessment program for the purpose of enhancing each program within the College to improve student learning.
  6. Provide a relevant general education program that will serve the needs of the non-science/engineering major.
  7. Provide faculty professional development opportunities that will enhance a life-long professional career of growth.
  8. Encourage faculty to provide their professional expertise to our various publics.
  9. Encourage industry and government partnerships so that the faculty and their students will be involved in active scholarship.
  10. Encourage students to be active in of professional organizations under faculty mentorship.
  11. Encourage students to pursue science and mathematics education so that they can positively influence the development of young minds (K-12).
  12. Provide students a strong academic and career advising program.
  13. Encourage faculty to maintain leading edge programs with current technologies so that our students are globally competitive upon graduation.
  14. Strive for an open style of management so that faculty, staff and students are active partners of the College.
  15. Maintain the investment in resources in the laboratories and structural facilities so that students are in a positive learning environment.

The College goals listed above are long-term goals. In addition, the College will have Academic Year Goals for each academic year. These goals will be supportive of the academic year departmental goals.
