Research in my laboratory focuses on the impact of toxins on living systems and antidotal therapy. Specifically, I have studied oxidative toxicity from paraquat exposure, sex differences in response and nutritional antidotes. My laboratory has also investigated the phytotoxic responses of Tradescantia to diesel fuel. During the Minnesota River Assessment Project, my lab studied the concentration and impact of organic pollutants on fish. As part of my first sabbatical, I investigated atrazine ecotoxicology as an AAAS-EPA fellow and similarly measured concentrations and modeled impacts in Southern Minnesota Rivers. My latest research involves endocrine disruption and has employed the Rainbow Darter and tadpoles as bioindicator species for pesticides and nutrients.

I teach a wide variety of courses within the department at all levels ranging from BIOL 230, the Toxicology course series (BIOL 460s) and participate in graduate courses (BIOL 619). I enjoy working with a diverse group of students to help them think larger about their studies, their life and their future plans.
