College of Science, Engineering and Technology Scholarship At least ten awards ranging from $500 to $1000 may be given. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above, have completed at least two full semesters at Minnesota State, Mankato, and be declared a major in the college or in a pre-professional major with the college. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
Anne and John Frey Scholarship UP to four awards of $1000 may be given. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Preference will be given to sophomores in either biology or chemistry majors. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
Arnold Lund Microbiology Scholarship One award of $1000 may be given to a student majoring in biology, with an emphasis in microbiology.
Babe and Chuck Pennington Botany Scholarship One award of $1000 may be given to a biology major with an emphasis in plant science.
Biology Department Scholarship UP to four awards of $1000 may be given. All biology majors will be considered, including biotechnology, environmental science, food science technology, life science (teaching), medical technology, and toxicology.
Biotechnology Scholarship UP to two awards of $1000 may be given to biotechnology majors.
Davisco Food Science Technology Scholarship One award of $2500 may be given to a declared major who is majoring in food science technology. Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 is required. First consideration will be given to applicants who have not previously received a departmental scholarship.
Dean and Maxine Turner Scholarship One award of $1000 may be given. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and be enrolled in any major in the college or in a pre-professional major associated with the college. Preference will be given to students who will be seniors in the fall. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
Donald E. Brinkman Biology Scholarship One award of $1000 may be available for biology majors who have a genetics or molecular biology emphasis.
Gladys Stein Scholarship One award of $1000 may be given. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher, must have completed at least one full semester at Minnesota State, Mankato, and be a declared math, science or pre-professional major in the college. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
Jon Choe Memorial Scholarship One award of $1000 may be given. Preference is given to biology majors who have a plant science emphasis.
Mary and Clifford Hendrickson Scholarship Two $500 awards may be available. To qualify, a student must be a declared major in the College of SET and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
Turning Pointe Scholarship One award of $1000 may be given to a single mother with dependent child(ren) who is a declared and accepted major in the College of SET with 32 credit hours completed. There is no minimum GPA requirement. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee. A separate application is required. Details
WISE Scholarship One to three awards of $500 - $1500 may be awarded. To qualify, applicants must be female student in their second year (sophomores) of a science; must be a math or engineering major; must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in their major courses; must have already selected a research project and identified a faculty mentor OR who are interested in pursuing undergraduate research and have identified a faculty mentor, and; must plan to participate in the undergraduate research conference in spring, 2010. In addition to the standard CSET scholarship application, applicants must write a meaningful essay regarding her research pursuit and/or interest, and provide a letter of support from their faculty mentor. This letter should address the research project (either underway or anticipated).
Xcel Energy Scholarship Five awards of $1000 are available. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, have completed at least two full semesters at Minnesota State, Mankato, and be declared a major in the college or in a pre-professional major with the college. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
