Catalog Description

Provides students with opportunity to utilize their training in a real-world business environment working under the guidance and direction of a faculty. (At most 4 hours toward a major in this department.)

Prerequisites

• Permanent admission to the IT major and any four of the following and consent.
• IT 320(4) Machine Structures and Operating Systems
• IT 340(4) Introduction to Database Systems (or ISYS 340)
• IT 350(4) Information Security (or ISYS 350)
• IT 360(4) Introduction to Data Communication and Networking
• IT 380(4) Systems Analysis and Design (or ISYS 380)
• IT 483(4) Web Applications and User Interface Design

This course (IT 497) is not a prerequisite for any other IT course.

Schedule

By the end of this course, you should be able to

• discuss (in general terms) an experience working on information systems in a real-world business environment and how that experience has changed the student's attitudes and outlook
• discuss how a real-word experience validates the student's study
• discuss how a real-world experience in information systems has affected the student's future academic plans
• discuss the importance of networking for future career employment
