Several scholarships are available for qualified Mechanical & Civil Engineering students. Scholarships come from many different sources some of which include the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology; National Science Foundation; Mechanical and Civil Engineering Department; Minnesota State University, Mankato; American Society of Mechanical Engineers; American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air–Conditioning Engineers; Kato Engineering; and various other professional organizations. The Mechanical and Civil Engineering faculty members encourage and support students applying for scholarships.
Minnesota State University, Mankato offers several merit scholarships which are available university–wide. Each award maintains unique eligibility criteria, application procedures, application deadlines. Please visit the Office of Financial Aid for additional information.

Two awards of $500 will be given. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, have completed 64 credits (sophomore entering junior year), have a declared major in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering, have officially been accepted to the College of SET, and be a Minnesota resident. Recipients are selected by Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
Five awards of $1,500 will be given. To qualify, students must be enrolled full–time in science, science teaching, engineering, or technology majors. Applicants must be permanent residents of Minnesota (preference will be given to those from the Waseca area and south–central Minnesota). Applicants must be juniors, admitted to the college/major and enrolled in upper level courses. Recipients are selected by Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
One award of $500 will be given. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above and be enrolled in any major in the college or in a pre–professional major associated with the college. Preference will be given to students who will be seniors by Fall 2004. Recipients are selected by Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
One award of $2000 will be given to a senior with a GPA of 3.5 or higher; Two awards of $1000 will be given to a senior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher; and Four awards of $500 will be given to a junior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Candidates must be declared major in one of the following: Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Electronic Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics. Recipients are selected by Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
Two awards of $250 is available. To qualify, a student must be enrolled as a full time student at MSU and intend to major in Mechanical or Civil Engineering. Scholarship only open to students with fewer than 32 credits at the time of application.
Two awards of $500 that are based on scholastic achievement will be given. To qualify, a student must have junior status and be admitted to the Mechanical Engineering Program by the application deadline.
Awards of $250 each that is based on scholastic achievement will be given. To qualify, a student must be a transfer student and be eligible for admittance into the Mechanical or Civil Engineering program by the application deadline.
Martin C. Menk, Jr. Scholarship was established in 2003 by Mr. and Mrs. Jon Rippke in honor of the founder of Bolton & Menk, Inc. in Mankato. Mr. Rippke is President of Bolton & Menk, Inc. and chair of the Civil Engineering Industrial Advisory Board. This scholarship is provided to current MSU Civil Engineering students. The award is based on scholastic achievement. To qualify, a student must have junior status and be admitted to the Civil Engineering program when the scholarship is awarded. Students must submit the application to the College using the CSET scholarship application form and the Civil Engineering application supplementary form available in early spring semester of each year.
