The goal of the Mechanical Engineering Program is to produce graduates who have the skills necessary to make an immediate impact on technology–intensive industries and who have sufficient background to prepare them for graduate school. Our graduates are employed in various industries–from electronic, and food, to aerospace and power generating.
Our laboratories are equipped with the most modern equipment available for use by undergraduate students. We have several state-of-the-art computer laboratories with advanced engineering and drafting software. We believe you will find the willingness of faculty to work closely with you to be an attractive feature of our program.
Most students transferring to the Mechanical Engineering Program at MSU will have 3 calculus courses plus Differential Equations, calculus-based General Physics (1 year), General Chemistry (1/2 year), English Composition, Economics, Computer language (Matlab), Drafting, plus Electrical Circuits, Statics and Dynamics. Usually all these courses will apply to the Mechanical Engineering Program requirements.
If the applicant has transfer credits from another college or university, or expects to be admitted as a transfer student, all transfer courses/credits must be evaluated by the Office of Admissions at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Specific information regarding admissions and transfer credits may be answered by MSU's transfer undergraduate admission policy.
