The Structural Testing and Materials and Manufacturing Operations Laboratory consists of three dedicated areas - over 2200 square feet. They contain current industrial and educational machines to support engineering education and research. Equipment includes:

  1. MTS universal servohydraulic computer-controlled testing machine with 22 Kip load frame; for testing material properties and work- related fatigue of materials and products.
  2. Tinius Olsen Tensile Test machine with 60,000 lb. capacity; with x, y output for tensile and compressive tests.
  3. Monsanto Tensometer bench top tensile test machine with extensometer and heating capacity.
  4. Vega Enterprise tensile test machine - manual, 20000 lbs.
  5. Fatigue Dynamics rotating beam fatigue test machine.
  6. Fatigue Dynamics reciprocating fatigue test machine.
  7. Charpy impact test machine.
  8. Lindberg ovens (3) for heat treating.
  9. Wison Brinell hardness tester.
  10. Wilson Rockwell hardness tester.
  11. Alpha Duromatic Rockwell hardness tester.
  12. Leco Microhardness tester.
  13. Surface finish machines for metallurgical sample preparation:
    • 1 Leco, 2 Buehler — rotary types
    • 1 Buehler — belt type
  14. Bridge model for deflection measurement and calculations
  15. Buehler abrasive cutter for sample preparation.
  16. Buehler sample mounting machine.
  17. Microscopes (7) for material inspection.
  18. Buehler image analyzer for enhanced material inspection.
  19. Micro measurement Strain Smart 5100.
  20. Amatrol 11600 Structural System.
