Dr. Charles Johnson, P.E.Dr. Charles Johnson, P.E., is chair of the Mechanical and Civil Engineering Department. He joined the Mechanical Engineering Faculty at MSU in 1989. He received his BSME from Purdue University and his MS and PhD in Engineering Mechanics from Iowa State University. Before joining MSU, Dr. Johnson taught for several years at Michigan Technological University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota. His areas of expertise include Dynamics, Vibrations and Control. His current research interest is in the area of Mechatronics. He is a member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society (ISA).
