Dr. Stephen Druschel, P.E.
Dr. Druschel is a civil engineer whose emphasis area is in environmental engineering. Currently Professor of Civil Engineering at Minnesota State University, Mankato, Dr. Druschel teaches engineering design and laboratory courses and performs research related to surface water protection, waste treatment and winter roadway deicing. Prior to his appointment at Minnesota State, Dr. Druschel worked in professional practice for 25 years, focusing on achieving quality and performance for high-risk environmental construction projects where public confidence and engineering performance were critical. He has worked on projects in over 40 states and was licensed as a professional engineer in 10 states (2 states currently). Dr. Druschel was named a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2017, recognizing his achievements with both undergraduate education and technical method development. ASCE specifically named developments by Dr. Druschel for approaches in winter roadway maintenance, slope stability for landfill and hazardous waste containment, and air pollution control compliance. Dr. Druschel lives in Mankato with his wife, Margo, an administrator of refugee resettlement. They have two grown children, a daughter who works as a social worker and a son who is an attorney working as a public defender.
