Dr. Jerzy K. Fiszdon, P.E.Dr. Jerzy K. Fiszdon, P.E., joined the Mechanical Engineering Faculty at MSU in 1987. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Warsaw University of Technology and Ph.D. from the Institute of Nuclear Research in Poland. For a number of years Dr. Fiszdon was faculty member at Arizona State University, where he was involved in research on two-phase two-component cooling of gas turbine blades. Prior to this, he was at Brown University and the University of Delaware where he researched thermophysical properties of mixtures at extremely high pressures. He also taught at the Warsaw University of Technology, Poland. For a number of years Dr. Fiszdon worked in the Division of Plasma Physics and Technology at the Institute of Nuclear Research, where he was involved in design and research of an experimental MHD hot wall generators, plasma guns for commercial applications and powder feeders. For some of these devices he was awarded patents. His areas of expertise include Thermal/Fluid Sciences. His current research interests are in the Heat Transfer and Advanced Energy Systems. Dr. Fiszdon is an author or co-author of approximately forty publications. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota, an Associate Fellow of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. In this last he is a member-at-large of the executive committee of the Advanced Energy Systems Division.
