Dr. Vance Browne, P.E.Dr. Vance Browne, P.E., joined the Mechanical Engineering Faculty at MSU in Fall 1992. He holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland and is a registered Professional Engineer. Before joining MSU, Dr. Browne was at Fel-Pro, Inc., in positions including Director of Technology Development. Prior to Fel-Pro, Inc., he was with Borg-Warner Corp. in Chicago. At the time he left Borg-Warner, he was Director of the Automotive Research Center. He holds design patents from both companies. He also has taught in the mechanical engineering departments at the University of Dayton and the University of Maryland. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Currently he serves on the ASME Power Transmission and Gearing Committee where he is the sub committee chair for chains and belts. His areas of expertise include: Product Development and Management, Transmissions and Drive Train Components. His current research interests are in the Product Realization Process, Fatigue of Materials and Power Transmission Components. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio.
