MET students

The MET Program teaches theory, communication, research, and technical skills using lecture, group projects, and lab assignments. Innovative teaching methods and new technology applications require continuous updating of facilities. Fortunately, because of MSU's commitment and the faculty's success in securing equipment and research grants, the MET Program is able to provide state-of-the-art classroom and lab facilities.

The MET classrooms range in size from 20 to 90 seats (although class size rarely exceeds 30 students) and are assigned based upon the expected enrollment and special equipment needs for the course. All classrooms are equipped with a video projection unit, document camera, VCR, and DVD player, which interface with faculty computers Trafton N259, a specially equipped classroom used exclusively for AMET classes, seats 39 students, is outfitted with CCTV, Elmo and Proxima projectors, computer hook-ups, and demonstration-model storage units. Over 90% of AMET courses offered utilize this classroom.

Students majoring in Manufacturing Engineering Technology at MSU use all available program labs to apply the theory taught in the classrooms. The labs used by the MET program offer a wide range of technical equipment to support the MET curriculum. These customized spaces offer students the opportunity to work on assigned projects and study advanced manufacturing subjects. The labs receive extensive use in all the technical, science and specialty MET courses. In addition to these specific labs, the basic science areas of physics, chemistry and computer science utilize their own dedicated laboratories for the courses required by MET Program.
