APICS (formerly the American Production and Inventory Control Society) stands for the Association for Operations Management Excellence. Initiated in 2004, the APICS MSU Student Chapter is sponsored by the Southern Minnesota APICS Senior Chapter. While most student members are from the Manufacturing Engineering Technology degree programs, students from other majors are welcome to attend and join APICS. The sponsoring APICS Senior Chapter made up of resource planning and control industry professionals from central and southeast Minnesota companies, holds monthly Professional Development Meetings (PDMs) around the Owatonna, Minnesota area. In 2005 and 2006 the senior chapter added a MSU APICS Student Chapter Paper Competition with first place award of $500 and second place award of $300. The APICS MSU Student Chapter hosts one senior chapter meeting a year and student chapter members regularly attend the PDMs for networking and national speaker presentations. Student Chapter Advisor is Ann Goebel, AMET Chair, Faculty, and Southern Minnesota APICS Chapter Board Vice President for Student Chapters. Southern MN APIC (SoMN) Photo Album website.
