Fall Observing Season

June 2008:
Dr. Russell Palma had a crucial role in the discovery of a new mineral that was found in the upper reaches of the atmosphere and apparently came from a comet. read more

Open House at Andreas Observatory

September 2007:
Andreas Observatory and its computer-controlled, 20-inch telescope will be open on a regular basis in fall 2007, beginning Friday, September 21. read more

Clint Crosby Seminar

September 2007:
The Department of Physics & Astronomy will recognize the generosity of alumnus Clint Crosby on Thursday, Sept. 20, by naming its weekly seminar series in his honor. Crosby will speak at the first Clint Crosby/Lockheed Martin Physics and Astronomy Seminar. read more

New Telescope at Andreas Observatory

September 2007:
About 60 guests attended a First Light Dedication of the new Baker Ritchey-Chretien telescope at Andreas Observatory Thursday, September 13. The telescope – purchased with funds raised in a campaign spearheaded by astronomy alumnus Adam Mans – has the ability to take spectacular wide-field photos of the sky.

Transit of Mercury to be Visible from Mankato

November 2006:
On the afternoon of Wednesday, November 8, the transit of the planet Mercury across the Sun's disk may be observed from the Trafton patio, just north of the Biology main office. read more

Observatory Moves

August 2006:
Standeford Observatory has been relocated to a new site in the woods at the south end of campus, near the Ropes Course, the ROTC Tower, and Andreas Observatory. see pictures of the move

MSU Grad Receives Fulbright Scholarship

June 2006:
