Admission Requirements
2007-2008
Admission
to
undergraduate programs in the College of Science, Engineering,
& Technology
typically occurs before the end of the second year. Admission to major
allows a
student to register for upper division classes (300-400 level). If you
need to
take upper division classes, but have not met the admission
requirements, you
may request a provisional or temporary admission. You need admission to
major
in your first major only. Once you have been accepted to your first
major, you
are eligible to take upper-level courses in a second major or in your
minor.
You
must be
familiar with your admission requirements. The general requirements are
as
follows:
- Have
a declared a first major in one of the college programs.
- Have
an assigned advisor.
- Have
completed a minimum of 32 semester credits hours with a minimum of a
2.0 GPA.
- Have
successful completion of English 101 with a “C” or
above and your first
college-level math course requirement with a “C” or
above.
- Have
completed any additional requirements for admission to your major.
The
following majors have additional admission requirements:
- Biochemistry
Majors (Chem 201 and Chem 202 with a “C” or above
and Biol 105 and Biol 106 with a “C” or above).
- Chemistry
Majors (Chem 201 and Chem 202 with a “C” or above).
- Computer
Science Majors (CS 110 with a "B" or better, CS 111, CS 210, and CS 220
with a "C" or better; Math 121 with a "C" or better; and a 2.5
GPA
in all computer classes).
- Information
Technology Majors (IT 110 with a "B" or better; IT 210 and IT 214 with
a "C" or better; MATH 121 or
MATH 181 with a "C" or better; and a 2.5 GPA in computer classes).
- Information
Systems Majors (ISYS 110 with a "B" or better; ISYS 210 and ISYS 215
with a "C" or better; MATH 121 or MATH 181 with a "C" or better;
and a 2.5 GPA in computer classes).
- Mathematics
Majors (MATH 121 and MATH 122 and have a 2.5 GPA in those Math
courses).
- Biology
Majors (BIOL 105W and BIOL 106 with a “C” or
above).
- Computer,
Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering Majors need to
complete a separate application for
admission into upper division (300 & 400 level) engineering
courses. Contact the department of your engineering major for details.
(Engineering students may be admitted to college to enroll in 300-400
upper level courses required for admission to major)
Transfer Students
may have successfully completed equivalent courses for the requirements
listed above. If you are a transfer student, please contact the
Advising Center for information about transfer equivalencies.
