College of Science, Engineering and Technology Scholarship At least ten awards ranging from $500 to $1000 may be given. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above, have completed at least two full semesters at Minnesota State, Mankato, and be declared in a major in the college or in a pre-professional major with the college. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
Angie's Inspiration Scholarship Up to two awards of $1500 to $2000 may be given. CSET faculty and staff are encouraged to recommend this award to students who meet the intent and criteria of the scholarship. This scholarship will recognize and support those students who have inspired others by achieving a solid level of success in their majors in spite of encountering barriers. Examples include (but are not limited to) non-native speakers of English, students with unexpected personal or family medical or financial problems, women engineering students, CAP students, international students with unusual, unexpected and verifiable financial issues. Eligible students:
  • Must maintain an overall and major GPA of 2.7 or higher
  • Must be in junior status and entering senior status as full time students
  • Must be enrolled in a CSET major
Mr. Amar and Mrs. Gita Banik Scholarship One award of up to $2000 may be given to a student meeting the following criteria:
  • Must be enrolled in either computer informaton technology, information systems, or computer engineering
  • Must have a 3.0 overall GPA and a minimum 3.0 GPA within their major
  • Must have completed their sophomore year in their major
  • Preference will be shown to international students, however if no one matches the requirement, the award is open to all eligible
Brown Printing Company Leadership Scholarship Up to two awards of $1500 will be given to students who meet the following criteria:
  • Have a declared major in CIT or ISYS
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Be legally able to work in the US at the time application is made
  • Have strong communication skills
Candidates will be selected through a highly selective screening process in cooperation with Brown Printing and the Department of Computer Information Science.
Federated Insurance Computer Science Scholarship Two awards of $1500 will be given to Information Systems (ISYS) or Computer Information Technology (CIT) majors.
Eligibility Requirements:
  • A student with a declared (CIT or ISYS) major, and who will be a sophomore, a junior, or will have at least one semester remaining as a senior during the year the scholarship is awarded
  • Minimum overall and major GPA of 3.0
  • Authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis
  • Evidence of community service
  • Preference will be given to students holding leadership positions and who are involved in extracurricular activities
Mary and Clifford Hendrickson Scholarship Two $500 awards may be available. To qualify, a student must be a declared major in the College of SET and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
Department of Computer Information Technology Scholarship Up to five awards may be given. To qualify, a student must be a sophomore, junior or senior, and have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA in their computer science major.
Hickory Tech Foundation Scholarship Up to five awards of up to $1000 are available for students with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students with high extracurricular experiences are preferred.
John and Karen Knox Study Abroad Scholarship Retired CSET dean John Knox and his wife, Karen, have established a $1000 scholarship to emphasize the importance of international study experiences. Criteria for selection include the following:
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Must be enrolled in a CSET major while studying abroad, preferably in a country whose first language IS NOT English
  • Must be a full time student admitted to the CSET major of their choice.
  • Must be at least in junior status at the time of the study abroad experience
  • Upon return from the study abroad experience, must meet with donors to share their experience.
  • Must complete a supplemental application that includes a 200-word essay.
Chuck Sherwood Information Systems & Technology Scholarship Up to three awards of $500 may be given - one each to an IT, ISYS and CS student who have been accepted into the College of Science, Engineering and Technology, and have officially declared either ISYS, IT or CS as their major. Strong preference will be given to students balancing a full academic load while working half- to full-time.
Dean and Maxine Turner Scholarship One award of $1000 may be given. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and be enrolled in any major in the college or in a pre-professional major associated with the college. Preference will be given to students who will be seniors in the fall. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
Turning Pointe Scholarship One award of $1000 may be given to a single mother with dependent child(ren) who is a declared and accepted major in the College of SET with 24 credit hours completed. WISE Scholarship (PENDING)

Up to three scholarships of $500 may be awarded. To qualify, an applicant must be a first year female student entering their second year of a science, math, or engineering major. Student must have completed at least one semester at MSU with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in their major courses.
