Supplemental Application for Civil Engineering Majors

College of Science, Engineering and Technology Scholarship At least ten awards ranging from $500 to $1000 may be given. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above, have completed at least two full semesters at Minnesota State, Mankato, and be declared a major in the college or in a pre-professional major with the college. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
ASHRAE Engineering Scholarship Two awards of $1000 may be available. To qualify, a student must be enrolled in the mechanical engineering program and must have successfully completed a minimum of 48 semester hours. Preference is given to students who graduated from a high school within 50 miles of Rochester, MN. The student should have an interest in HVAC and plan to work in that area, as declared in the application essay. Preference will also be given to students participating in student chapters of engineering groups. Consideration may be given to financial need. This will be determined through the office of Student Financial Services. Preference will be given to those students who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.9 on a 4.0 scale.
Brown Printing Company Leadership Scholarship Two to three awards of up to $1500 may be available for students who meet the following criteria: Have officially applied for and been accepted into the College of Science, Engineering and Technology; have declared a major in IT, ISYS, COMS, ME or EE; have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale; have completed 64 credits and therefore entering junior status; be permanently able to work in the U.S. at the time application is made; submit a short essay, documenting interests and significant high school or college activities, the rationale for choice of major, the applicant’s career objectives and a description of accomplishments that have contributed to improvement of society as a whole. The essay must explain how the scholarship will be utilized to financially support the applicant’s education plan. (MSU will verify that the scholarship funds will be used to defray educational expenses). Document present and prior full-time and part-time work experience; and, furnish a letter of recommendation from an academic official. Special consideration will be given to high school graduates from the southern Minnesota counties of Blue Earth, Waseca, Brown, LeSueur, Nicollet, Freeborn, Rice and Steele.

Dean and Maxine Turner Scholarship One award of $1000 may be given. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and be enrolled in any major in the college or in a pre-professional major associated with the college. Preference will be given to students who will be seniors in the fall. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
E.F. Johnson Engineering Scholarship Two awards of $1000 may be available. To qualify, a student must have sophomore status, intend to major in mechanical engineering and have completed two semesters at Minnesota State, Mankato by the application deadline.
First Civil Engineering Class of 2003 Scholarship In order to be considered for the scholarship, applicants must have officially applied for and been accepted in to the College of Science, Engineering and Technology, declared civil engineering as his/her major, completed 64 credits (entering junior status), and must have shown an active interest in their chosen profession including work related experience, internships, and/or student society involvement. Applicants must also submit a short essay describing their interest in civil engineering, how a First Civil Engineering Class of 2003 Scholarship will help them, what they have gained and learned through their related work experience, internships and/or student society involvement; and why they chose civil engineering over other programs.
I & S Engineering Civil Engineering Scholarship One award of $1000 may be available to a civil engineering major who has completed or is in the process of completing 64 semester credits (sophomore entering junior year), has officially applied for and been accepted into the College of SET, and has a GPA of at least 2.5.
Jack and Anna Getta Memorial Scholarship Two awards of $500 may be given. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, have completed 64 credits (sophomore entering junior year), have a declared major in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering technology or civil engineering (preference given in order), have officially been accepted to the College of SET, and be a Minnesota resident. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need as evidenced by their financial aid status. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
Martin C. Menk, Jr. Civil Engineering Scholarship Two awards of $1000 may be available. To be considered, a student must have successfully completed a minimum of 64 semester credits (junior status), must have officially applied for and been accepted into the College of SET, and must have been accepted for study into the Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Preference will be given to those students who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.9 on a 4.0 scale. The scholarship will be awarded for the beginning of the fall semester in the amount of $1000 per year, payable in two equal payments of $500 per semester.
Mary and Clifford Hendrickson Scholarship Two $500 awards may be available. To qualify, a student must be a declared major in the College of SET and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
Minnesota County Engineers Association Scholarship One award of $1000 may be available. To apply, see Dr. Jim Wilde (Trafton E322, 507-389-5252) for details.

Paulsen Architects Structural Engineering Scholarship One award of $1000 may be available. To qualify, the student must have successfully completed a minimum of 64 credit hours of study (junior year); must have successfully completed at least one upper level course in the structural emphasis; must have officially applied for and been accepted into the College of Science, Engineering and Technology; and must have demonstrated leadership experience and community service as evidenced by their essay response on the associated application. Preference will be given to those students who have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Thin Film Technology/Mankato Area Foundation Scholarship Up to one award of $2000 may be given to a senior with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. UP to two awards of $1000 will be given to a senior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Up to four awards of $500 will be given to a junior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Candidates must be a declared major in either computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering technology, computer engineering technology, electronic engineering technology, manufacturing engineering technology, chemistry, mathematics, or physics. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
Turning Pointe Scholarship One award of $1000 may be given to a single mother with dependent child(ren) who is a declared and accepted major in the College of SET with 32 credit hours completed. V-Tek, Inc. Engineering Scholarship Up to six awards of $1000 may be given. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, completed 32 or more semester credit hours, and be enrolled in one of the following majors: computer engineering, computer engineering technology, electrical engineering, electronic engineering technology, manufacturing engineering technology or mechanical engineering. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review committee.
Wells Concrete Scholarship One award of $1000 may be available. To qualify, a student must be accepted into the College of SET, must be majoring in civil engineering, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, have completed 64 semester credits (entering junior year), and must be pursuing coursework with an emphasis in structural design.
WISE Scholarship One to three awards of $500 - $1500 may be awarded. To qualify, applicants must be female student in their second year (sophomores) of a science; must be a math or engineering major; must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in their major courses; must have already selected a research project and identified a faculty mentor OR who are interested in pursuing undergraduate research and have identified a faculty mentor, and; must plan to participate in the undergraduate research conference in spring, 2010. In addition to the standard CSET scholarship application, applicants must write a meaningful essay regarding her research pursuit and/or interest, and provide a letter of support from their faculty mentor. This letter should address the research project (either underway or anticipated).
Xcel Energy Scholarship Five awards of $1000 may be available. To qualify, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, have completed at least two full semesters at Minnesota State, Mankato, and be declared a major in the college or in a pre-professional major with the college. Recipients are selected by the Dean's Scholarship Review Committee.
