Scott focuses primary on efforts of the Minnesota River Watershed Alliance to provide a unifying voice for what is happening in the Minnesota River.  Communication pieces include the MN River Summit, River Talk Newsletter and Minnesota River Weekly Email Update and MN River Minute.  Scott is also involved with other projects ranging from water quality monitoring to web site development, community events, and watershed-wide initiatives including a Paddle Patch/Decal Program and MN River Interactive Web Site.

Scott started his natural resource career as a park ranger with the North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department working on educational and wetland projects.  In the last five years, Scott has been part of two water quality projects in the Minnesota River Basin, the Lac qui Parle – Yellow Bank Diagnostic Study and the High Island Creek / Rush River Watersheds Implementation Project.  Under these two projects, Scott developed a biological monitoring program, worked with citizens and river monitoring.
