Mankato, Minn. – The 50th annual Douglas R. Moore Faculty Research Lecture at Minnesota State University, Mankato will feature a presentation by faculty member Mriganka De on Monday, April 1 at 7 p.m. on regenerating soil health and enhancing corn productivity in the U.S. corn belt.

De’s presentation is titled “Can we Regenerate Soil Health and Enhance Corn Productivity in the U.S. Corn Belt through Perennial Cover Crops and Poultry Integration?”

The presentation is free and open to the public and will be delivered in Ostrander Auditorium, located in Minnesota State Mankato’s Centennial Student Union. Free parking is available after 6:30 p.m. in University Gold Lots.

“The presentation will focus on the importance of perennial cover crops and livestock integration on soil biology and crop health in a corn production system,” said De, who is a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, which is part of Minnesota State Mankato’s College of Science, Engineering and Technology.

The annual Douglas R. Moore lecture celebrates excellence in research at Minnesota State Mankato. This will be the 50th such lecture, and the 37th named after Moore, who established the event.

Moore was president of then-Mankato State University from 1974 to 1978. His tenure saw the transformation of Mankato State College into a university, as well as the consolidation of the lower and upper campuses and construction of a new administration building.
