Design of a Novel Dual Circularly Polarized Substrate Integrated E-Plane Waveguide Horn Antenna

Reliable high speed data transmission over the air is important to modern society. Antenna is an indispensable device that realizes wireless transmission over the air. A dual circularly polarized (CP) antenna has superior performance because a CP wave has a good wave propagation characteristic and two independent data streams can be transmitted simultaneously. A substrate-integrated E-plane waveguide (SIEW) horn antenna will be designed to realize the dual-polarized CP transmission. This antenna will consist of two SMA (subminiature version A) to SIEW adaptors, a dielectric load SIEW antenna and a SIEW polarizer. The antenna will be designed, optimized, and simulated using HFSS (high-frequency simulation software). After the final design, an antenna prototype will be built and measured to validate the simulated result.
