Engineers Week at Minnesota State University, Mankato a Resounding Success

March 03, 2025 |

The College of Science, Engineering and Technology celebrated a successful Engineers Week from February 24-28, 2025, bringing together students, alumni, faculty, and industry professionals to honor the engineering profession and its future leaders. The week was filled with engaging activities, culminating in a memorable social gathering at ISG’s Mankato location.

Engineers Week is a nationwide event dedicated to celebrating the contributions of engineers and inspiring the next generation of innovators. MSU Mankato's version of the event was packed with exciting events, and its success would not have been possible without the generous sponsorship from Bolton and Menke, ISG, and Next Gen RF. Their support helped create an engaging environment where students could connect with industry leaders, participate in fun activities, and further develop their engineering skills.

One of the highlights of the week was the spaghetti dinner hosted by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), which offered students the opportunity to connect in a more relaxed setting while also supporting an important cause. This event was a favorite among students and provided a space for members to bond over shared experiences in the field of engineering.

The Order of the Engineer Ceremony, a staple event in the week, saw senior engineering students take an oath to uphold the ethical and professional duties of their respective fields. This solemn ceremony serves as a rite of passage for students entering the engineering workforce and signifies their commitment to integrity and excellence.

Other standout events included a sledding night at Mount Kato hosted by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) chapter. Students and faculty alike enjoyed an evening of fun in the snow, making the most of Minnesota’s winter weather and bonding over some friendly competition.

Additionally, the Rube Goldberg Competition, hosted by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) chapter, tested students' creativity and problem-solving skills. Teams worked tirelessly to design intricate machines that performed a simple task in the most complex way possible. The competition showcased the students' engineering ingenuity and was a crowd favorite.

The week concluded with a Maverick Hockey Night followed by a social gathering at ISG’s Mankato location. This event brought together students, alumni, and industry donors to celebrate the week’s accomplishments and further foster the MSU Mankato engineering community.

Looking ahead, The College of Science, Engineering and Technology is excited to host the 2026 Engineers Week, scheduled for February 15-21, 2026.
