Automotive Lab

The Automotive Lab is a comprehensive support facility that has a full assortment of shop equipment ranging from hoists and tire machines to hand tools and electronic diagnostic equipment.

Designed to support engine and vehicle research, the lab contains tools for mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, lubricating, and emission system test and repair equipment for student use. An online technical manual system provides lab support. In addition, many senior design and research vehicles take shape in the automotive lab.

The lab houses a separate dynamometer cell with a SuperFlow 902 engine dynamometer (dyno). This dyno has a 1000 horsepower/10,000 rpm maximum capacity and is used for upper-level classes and senior design research projects.

The lab is also equipped with cameras and video monitors to aid in teaching and demonstrations along with data collection for research projects.
