My research focuses on biology education. I am interested in understanding how students learn and come to understand biology. My research interests focus primarily on metacognition but I also have interest in the relationship between instruction, curriculum and assessment with student thinking related to biology.
I teach a combination of both introductory and upper-level biology courses. BIOL 100, which is the introductory biology course for non-majors with a lab. BIOL 102 is a course designed to explore women's biology and BIOL 480, which is a course specifically designed for pre-service elementary teachers.
I am currently accepting undergraduate and graduate students for research opportunities in Biology Education.
