Communication Laboratory

Our Communication Research Lab, led by Dr. Qun (Vincent) Zhang, has published a top scored paper in 2019 Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) (one of the largest International conference with 15400 attendance). The work was started with support by the Flies Fellowship, and has been in collaboration with researchers in NeoPhotonics Corporation, a leading designer and manufacturer of photonic integrated circuit, or PIC, based modules and subsystems for bandwidth-intensive, high-speed communications networks. The work presented in 2019 OFC set the world record real-time communication speed (400Gbits/s and beyond) with all silicon photonics modulator made from commercial semiconductor foundries.
