Dear international students,

We wish you continued strength and perseverance as we move through this crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

In our efforts to support our international students, we have made funds available for international students who worked for SODEXO during the Spring 2020 semester to continue as student workers on an alternative online university-project through the library for the remainder of the semester.  

This online work assignment involves students, under supervision of a new university supervisor, collecting stories of individuals as they experience the COVID-19 pandemic. This project is organized by the Library and student workers will be trained to do their work assignment. 

Each student employee can expect 8-10 hours of work, per week, starting on April 13 (or thereafter) until the end of finals week. Student workers can work from home, whether it is here in Mankato or elsewhere.

I am writing today to remind you about a University decision to allow you to choose Pass/No-Credit (P/NC) grading for Spring 2020 courses. This decision reflects the unprecedented situation we find ourselves in due to COVID-19 and the transition of all courses to remote or alternative delivery.

You have the opportunity to choose a Pass/No-Credit grading method for classes this semester that were not completed prior to March 16, 2020. Please review the information and resources available at https://mankato.mnsu.edu/grading/ before making a decision about changing a course grading method. Instructions and a video demonstrating how to change a course grading method is available on the web site. I strongly encourage you to consult with your advisor and your instructors prior to Friday April 24, so you are able to make the best possible decision for your situation. There is no reason to hurry in making a decision, so please consult and consider carefully your options. All Pass/No-Credit grade method changes need to be completed within e-Services by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 26.

In addition to the option of a Pass/No-Credit grading method, the last day to withdraw from full semester Spring 2020 courses has been moved back to April 27, 2020.  In considering a withdraw from a course, you are encouraged to consult with your advisor prior to making a decision.

Good morning,

I am writing today with a brief update on summer enrollment and some early advice about how we might plan for an uncertain fall semester.

• Summer: All summer instruction will be online. For the past two weeks, deans have been working with faculty to adapt classes and adjust course offerings for online delivery. Thanks to a lot of hard work by faculty, staff, and administrators, we are cautiously optimistic that summer enrollments will be solid.
• Fall: We will be a part of the conversation about what our delivery mode for fall is, but it will ultimately be Chancellor Devinder Malhotra’s decision. Conversations are ongoing, and no timeline for a decision has been shared. The options for fall seem to be:
• Normal in-person instruction
• Entirely online delivery
• Mostly online and limited in-person delivery (with social distancing)

I encourage everyone to be prepared to adapt whenever a decision is made. That means preparing for each of the possibilities above.

In the meantime, thank you all for your outstanding work during this strange and unprecedented semester. I am proud to be a part of this university community because of the wonderful work you are doing.
