ABOUT ME:

I come from a very small island named Aruba. My favorite hobbies are going to the gym, hanging out with family and friends, and studying. Something interesting about me is that I can speak four languages. These are Papiamento (Native language), Dutch, English, and Spanish. An interesting thing about my native language is that you cannot find it on Google Translate, which is cool.

WHY I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT MINNESOTA STATE MANKATO:

I am passionate about Minnesota State Mankato because of its diversity. Since I am an international student, I do not have any family members in America. Choosing a college that would help me feel welcome was very important, and this University made that possible.

IMPACT OF DONORS:

Donors significantly impact Minnesota State University Mankato in various ways, such as scholarships and financial aid, athletics and sports, programs and centers, and community engagement.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:

I am involved in theatre volunteering as an usher. I am also planning on volunteering in many activities on campus!

ABOUT ME:

I am from Roseville, Minnesota which is about 10 minutes north east of St.Paul. I grew up playing all types of sports from lacrosse, to dance, to basketball, and many more. This is my first time moving, I have gone to Roseville Area Schools up until graduation, and have known my best friends since kindergarten! I have an ESA named Stevie.  She is a cat who is going to be 2 in December. She’s a tuxedo kitty who is only about 7 pounds, and is the sweetest and silliest little girl ever.

WHY I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT MINNESOTA STATE MANKATO:

I am passionate about Minnesota State Mankato because my grandfather went here when he was in college. I love the history, and the beauty of this campus and how kind people are here.  I love that Mankato offers diverse courses, so there is truly something for everyone here!

IMPACT OF DONORS:

Donations, no matter the size, offer immense impacts on the daily lives of those attending the University. Whether it is going to scholarships to help those who can’t afford it on their own, or to the hockey team so they can remain our D1 team. Every donation has a ripple effect to benefit the minds of our future.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:

I am in Letters of Love here on campus, which is a nonprofit organization where we make cards for children battling cancer and other serious illnesses. I am also hoping to play on the rec lacrosse team here! I am also an unofficial member of many clubs as I plan to be very involved.

ABOUT ME:

I am from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. My hobbies are learning new language, swimming and board games. Something interesting about me: I'm all about loving nature, especially during fall when the leaves turn beautiful colors. Swimming is my go-to hobby—it's like a peaceful dip into pure relaxation. But above all, my family holds the biggest place in my heart, bringing me endless joy and love. I also love diving into different languages and cultures—it's like discovering new worlds. And when it comes to music, oldies Ethiopian music is where I find my groove, connecting me to life's beat. It's a beautiful mix of nature, family, languages, and tunes that make my story.

WHY I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT MINNESOTA STATE MANKATO:

I find Minnesota State Mankato immensely appealing due to its diverse and inclusive environment. The chance to interact with individuals from various corners of the globe, each with unique cultural backgrounds, is a remarkable aspect. Additionally, the University offers a wide array of engaging events and diverse student clubs, providing ample opportunities for personal growth and the formation of lasting friendships. The campus exudes a welcoming atmosphere, making it conducive to learning and fostering a sense of belonging. Minnesota State Mankato allows a person the opportunity to broaden their experiences and perspectives.

IMPACT OF DONORS:

Donors play a significant role in shaping the campus community. Their contributions, whether financial or in-kind, directly influence the quality of education and overall experience for students, faculty, and staff. Donations can fund scholarships, grants, and fellowships, making education more accessible and affordable for students. This support not only eases the financial burden but also encourages academic excellence and persistence towards degree completion.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:

My involvement on campus  has been diverse and rewarding. As a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, I have had the privilege of being part of a community that values academic excellence and service. Serving as a Community Advisor in McElroy, I've actively contributed to fostering a supportive living environment for fellow students. In my role as the IT Coordinator for NSLS, a registered student organization, I have been able to combine my interest in technology with my dedication to leadership and personal development. Furthermore, being a member of Health Pro within the Health Education department has allowed me to contribute to promoting wellness and healthy practices on campus. Lastly, being a part of the Honors Program has enriched my academic experience, providing challenging coursework and opportunities for intellectual growth.
