Dr. Fisher has teaching and research interests in soil health, regenerative agriculture, climate change, and water quality. She works at the intersection of environmental science and her disciplinary expertise in biogeochemistry and mineralogy in solid and aqueous environments. She uses open-source environmental monitoring hardware and software to collect time-series data and water samples using research-grade sensors at a fraction of the cost of proprietary logging systems. Her research lab is set up for multiple soil tests that are centered around how organic carbon and nitrogen cycle in the soil. She also works at the intersection of geoscience and art, making soil monoliths, using soil and mineral pigments for painting, and exploring the mix of art, chemistry, and mineralogy that is required in pottery. She has received funding from federal agencies, state agencies, and private partnerships for her scholarly work and research.
