Dr. Mehmet Baris Ozerdem gained his BS, MS and PhD degrees from Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir-Turkey with Mechanical Engineering major in 1982, 1985, and 1991, respectively. He completed his post doctoral study at the Catholic University of America, Washington DC, between 1992-1994. His industrial experience includes working as a bussiness executive and partner in private sector until 1999. Then, Dr. Ozerdem joined the faculty position at Izmir Institute of Technology, Izmir-Turkey between 1999-2012, Bahcesehir University, Istanbul- Turkey between 2012-2016, and Izmir University of Economics, Izmir-Turkey between 2016-2022. Dr. Ozerdem, besides teaching, served as Department Head, Director of Graduate School, and Dean of Engineering Faculty at those universities. He joined Mechanical Engineering faculty at Minnesota State University in 2022. His teaching interests include thermodynamics and heat transfer. His main research areas are; convection heat transfer, energy efficiency based HVAC applications, and renewable energy. He was the founding president of American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Turkish Chapter between 1993-1995. In addition, Dr. Ozerdem is a member of Editorial Board of SCI listed Energy and Buildings journal.
