Transportation Engineers
Transportation engineers design the systems that allow people to travel easily and safely on networks of streets, highways, subways, waterways, railways, airways and more.
Geotechnical Engineers
Geotechnical engineers design foundations for buildings and bridges, dams, embankments, tunnels, and many other soil-building interactions. They use principles of soil and rock mechanics to determine the strength and stiffness of soils for construction applications.
Structural Engineers
Structural Engineers design building and bridges, and anything that can be considered part of the Vertical Construction world.
Environmental Engineers
Environmental engineers use chemistry and biology to design solutions to prevent, control, and solve environmental problems, and to provide clean water and air for the public.

Undergraduate Research
There are many opportunities for undergraduate research with faculty members in the civil engingeering program. In some cases, student researchers are able to write academic papers with their faculty mentor, and travel to the National Conference on Undergraduate Research.
Civil Engineering Advisory Board
The Civil Engineering Advisory Board is comprised of members from public and private organizations. The board provides essential advice and counsel to the department chair, faculty and the Dean of the college.
