The Department of Mathematics believes an undergraduate major should be both an introduction to more advanced study and a survey of the many facets of mathematics. The Department offers three mathematics majors and two minors.

Mathematics Teaching

The primary focus of the BS Mathematics Teaching program is to prepare students to teach mathematics at the middle and secondary levels as well as prepare students for advanced study in mathematics and teaching.

Statistics

Statistics is the mathematical science of studying and learning from data. Applications of statistics are all around us such as in weather forecasting, surveys, quality control, market demand, causality, and effectiveness of treatments.

Mathematics & Statistics Learning Center

The Mathematics & Statistics Learning Center offers free tutoring on a walk-in basis for our undergraduate courses. The center is staffed by Math/Stat majors and graduate students. The center is located in Wissink Hall 285.
